Transcom Asia gears for its opening in Bacolod
BACOLOD CITY -- Negros Occidental Governor Isidro Zayco and Mayor Evelio Leonardia will grace the official announcement for the opening of the newest call center – Transcom Asia – in the province and in the city on July 15, 2009 at Planta Centro Hotel and Residences.
Transcom Asia Country Manager Siva Subramaniam said that their organization has a high regard for its people, and is much confident that the constituents of the province will drive value to the company toward greater heights.
Transcom Asia is Europe’s leading call center.
The affair will be a get together also in partnership with the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information and Communications Technology (BNEFIT), Inc.
“It is with great honor and pride to be here in the province as Transcom Asia communicates its big plans for the City of Smiles and to the entire province of Negros Occidental,” she added.
Mayor Evelio Leoanrdia said that the new call center will start operating in Bacolod City in September 2009 with an initial of 800 personnel.
It will be located at Lopue’s South Square in Brgy. Tangub, and targets to hire 2,000 to 3,000 employees.
The city officials are elated at the latest development in the Business Process Outsourcing industry in the city, saying it is an indication that call center companies are recognizing the capabilities of Bacoleños.
“The passing rate of call center applicants in Bacolod is higher than that in Metro Manila,” he added
“That further confirms the previous impression that, in Bacolod, the quality of our call center prospective employees are quite high and that must be the reason why the call centers come to Bacolod,” he said.
Leonardia said they are welcoming Tanscom Asia in Bacolod and in the province, as well as he assured them of the full support of the city government in terms of quality manpower and security.
This includes extending the lighting facilities up to South Square where their site is located, he said.
Permits and Licensing head Ardis Jaculina has been instructed by Leonardia to finalize the education program of the Bacolod Investment Board to (provide crash course) improve the quality of prospective applicants for the call centers.
Based on their queries, call center agents earn a minimum of P10,000 to 15,000 a month, he said.
The Regional Development Council reported that the number of employees in the call center industry in Bacolod is estimated to be more than 4,000.
“As much as possible we want our people to work here so they will not be separated from their families and at the same time, their income will circulate in Bacolod,” Leonardia said.
