SP to keep eye on Capitol purchase of hospital equipment
Planned purchase of additional hospital equipment for Iloilo’s six government hospitals will undergo close legislative scrutiny. With total appropriation of P12 million, also set to be thoroughly checked and reviewed are planned renovations here worth P26.5 million.
All part of the Department of Health’s (DOH) 2009 Health Facility Enhancement Program, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has been drawn for the said multi-million disbursement.
As such, Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas sought the approval of the Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) with among the primary tasks of the province to conduct the bidding.
The funds – all P38.5 million – are covered by six separate Special Allocation Release Order (SAROs) and must be utilized by December 31, 2009. Yet also stipulated in the MOA is the completion of the equipment delivery, installation and commissioning by August 2009.
Iloilo Provincial Hospital has P7 million in requested renovation and completion of its main hospital building. Earmarked as well was P6 million for purchase of medical equipment.
Other beneficiary-hospitals are Dumangas District Hospital with P7 million in planned renovation, Representative Pedro G. Trono Memorial Hospital in Guimbal with P3.5 million for the completion of its out-patient department building.
P5 million has been allocated for the Barotac Viejo District Hospital, P3 million of which is for the renovation of existing hospital facility and increase in bed capacity. P2 million here is for the procurement of medical equipment.
Sara District Hospital is set to get P5 million worth in infrastructure works and purchase of medical equipment pegged at P3 million and P2 million, respectively.
Remaining P5 million is set for Jesus M. Colmenares Memorial District Hospital in Balasan with P3 million for its hospital repair and P2 million for medical equipment.
