15 teachers injured in road mishap in Silay City
A vehicular accident that transpired in Silay City Monday afternoon between an Isuzu 10-wheeler cargo truck and a Fuzo Canter vehicle resulted to injuries to 15 high school teachers in Hacienda San Isidro, Barangay Bagtic in Silay City.
Police Chief Inspector Rico Santotome Jr, spokesman of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said that the incident also resulted to injuries to a minor and driver Carlos deletina, 54, resident of Barangay Guimbalaon in the city, who was seriously injured.
Investigation conducted by Silay City Police Station traffic in-charge Police Officer 1 Joffrey Redublo revealed the vehicle driven by Deletina was on its way back to Guimbalaon National High School from Silay City loaded with the teachers and the minor when the accident happened.
The teachers sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay including the minor while Deletina was brought to an undisclosed hospital in nearby Bacolod City.
Truck driver Rocky Articuna of Barangay Magsaysay in Cadiz City surrendered to Cadiz City Police Station the following day according to Police Superintendent Jerry Bartolome, chief of Silay City PNP.
He will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to multiple physical injuries and damage to property by the Silay City PNP.
