Molo's Fiesta Queen Mikee Chin.
Every locality is proud to present its queen. The more beautiful and intelligent their queen is, the more proud they are. After all, she is a reflection of the locality’s beauty, culture and heritage.
For the district of Molo, the young lady who will banner their fiesta on July 25, 2009 is Mikee Marie Armada Chin, 16, and daughter of Barangay Captain Mike Igbante Chin Jr (North Avancena) and Ma. Cynthia Nobleza Armada Chin. Her parents are an engineer-cum-businessman and businesswoman respectively. They are also active in religious organizations like the Knights of Columbus Molo Chapter and Daughters of Mary Immaculate and also a member of the Iloilo Executive Lions Club respectively.
Mikee has the greatest respect for her parents. “I love them very muh. Oftentimes, I show it by being playful especially on my dad. I know how to win his heart, and it is difficult for him to refuse what I want. I am obedient and very respectful to them. I am a very loving daughter. I give them hugs and kisses all the time. I can express my opinions and ideas without reserve. I am open and honest with my feelings towards them. They both truly understand me. I am the fruit of two great people in this universe,” she said.

Mikee is a middle child. “They said it’s tough to be a middle child but I disagree because I get the advantage of both worlds. My older brothers Mike and Martin think I have a good sense of humor, fun and lively. My younger siblings Marvin and Macy treat me like their pal.I support them in all their activities and undertakings. We all love each other, we have no jealousy, we bond like crazy and respect each other,” Mikee said of her siblings. “I am super fortunate to be part of this family,” she added.

Kathy: What do you do on your free time?
Mikee: During my free time, I enjoy reading pocketbooks. I usually spend most of my Saturdays visiting my relatives in La Paz and having fun with my cousins. I also find the time to go out and hang out with my friends.
Kathy: Any talent or skill?
Mikee: I’m not really that much of a talented person. I enjoy singing, although my voice is not that good.
Kathy: Are you a member of a club?
Mikee: My parents raised me to be God-fearing and enrolled me in a Catholic school where I learned how to be a good Christian and serve my perfectly good God. That is why I am a member of the FI Youth Organization to develop my relationship with God and others. I am also a member of the Theater Club in school, to develop my self-confidence. I’m also the Student Council President of our school.
Kathy: What are your fondest memories of your home district?
Mikee: Every 23rd of December is that date that I love most in my home district because it’s the tradition of my parents to gather children and share with them some of the blessings that we have. I really love children.
Kathy: If you were to promote Molo, what are its attractions that you would like people to know and why?
Mikee: One of the attractions in Molo that I would like people to know about is the Asilo de Molo because this is the home for the aged or elderly. During my first visit with the royal court, I was touched. I really admire the Sisters because of their industrious work of providing a home for the homeless. Secondly, the Rosendo Mejica Historical Landmark which tells the history and very rich culture of the City and Province of Iloilo. It is located in Baluarte Street, Molo, Iloilo City. This is the perfect Ilonggo museum.
Kathy: How does it feel to be Molo’s fiesta queen?
Mikee: Actually, I was first hesitant when my mother told me that I was going to be the 2009 Parish Fiesta Queen in honor of Saint Anne, since this is my very first public exposure. But then, I was happy because I get to be a part of Molo and eventually a local celebrity.
Kathy: Tell us about your gown on the coronation night.
Mikee: The gown is unique and has the element of surprise because it’s the newest creation of Mr. Alex Soncio of Alta Moda. One thing is very sure, the gown depicts a true Victorian culture.
