Lex’s major decision
City Councilor Lex Tupas posted on Facebook that he will be making a major decision in his political career very soon. He did not give a clue on what it is but to quote him, “A major decision in terms of my next step in my political career is forthcoming.” We’ll it has been rumored before that Lex will run for vice mayor of Iloilo City. Let’s see if this is what Lex meant by his “next step” in his political career.
Young security guards
Firearms, Explosives, Security Agencies and Guards Supervision Section (FESAGSS) of the Police Regional Office 6 should take a deeper look into the operations of security agencies here. It should not limit its function to the collection of fees from security agencies. It can be observed that there are security guards who are only 18 years old. At such a young age we don’t think the security guard already gained enough wisdom to handle critical situations related to his job. FESAGSS should take time to conduct random inspections on the security guards being admitted by the agencies in order to see this irregularity. Actually, there’s so much to look at the operations of security agencies if only FESAGSS is doing its job. We’ll be taking up other irregularities on the operation of security agencies in the succeeding issues of this section.
Partylist representation
Militant activists now have become very much part of the government courtesy of the partylist groups which they used as vehicle in joining politics. We have several partylist representatives coming from the so-called militant groups. One of them even declared to run for Senator in next year’s elections. We have nothing against these activists turned politicians, but they should at least do their part in nation-building, being members of Congress, and not only concentrate on hurling tirades against the government. Like regular congressmen, these partylist representatives are also got paid by people’s money. Now, the question is: What have they done so far in Congress and in the so-called “marginalized sector” that they are representing? Is it not the essence of the partylist representation to uplift the welfare of the marginalized sector? Well, we’re just asking.
