NPA hitman nabbed in checkpoint
BACOLOD CITY — Police personnel in Northern Negros arrested an alleged NPA hitman Friday morning in a checkpoint operation at Sitio Carado, Barangay Paraiso in Sagay City.
Police Chief Inspector Rico Santotome Jr, skokesman of Negros Occidental PNP said that while members of 611th Provincial Mobile Group led by Police Superintendent Alex Belonio were conducting checkpoint operations at said place, a certain Reynaldo Golez y Gujines @ Ka Jr/Ka Renante, 42 years old, married and resident of Brgy Camindangan in Sipalay City, who was on board a Ceres bus liner bound for Dumaguete City, was caught with an unlicensed gun in his possession.
Initial tactical interrogation conducted by the PNP disclosed that the suspect is a member of a partisan armed unit of the NPA under KLSW operating in Southern Negros. Recovered from his possession and control was one (1) caliber .45 Infinity pistol with serial number 87195.
Suspect is presently under the custody of 611th PMG pending the filing of charge for violation of Republic Act 8294 in court.
Negros Occidental PNP provincial director Police Senior Superintendent Manuel B Felix lauded Belonio and his men for the successful arrest of the suspect.
