Bayatan appointed new CLO chief
BACOLOD CITY — Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday announced the new City Legal Officer to take the position left by the late City Legal Officer Atty. Allan Zamora.
During his regular press conference yesterday, Leonardia officially designated Atty. Joselito Bayatan, a practicing lawyer for 18 years, to be the new chief of the CLO.
Bayatan finished his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos in 1990 and passed the bar exams the following year. Presently he is professor of the College of Law in the same school.
On the other hand, Bayatan thanked Mayor Leonardia for giving him the confidence and opportunity to serve in the City of Bacolod and vowed to give his best effort as City Legal Officer.
He vowed to check all the background of the city’s pending cases and he wished that after two weeks, he could already start working. Bayatan solicited the support of Assistant City Legal Officer Atty. Vicente Petierre and the rest of his legal team to carry out his role and function.
Bayatan admitted that when the position was offered to him, his first inclination was to refuse the offer although he was a law practitioner for the past 18 years.
Bayatan refused to issue any political statement as to the cases pending before the Office of the Ombudsman but he is now ready to review all these cases.
