Capiz town gets competitiveness support
ROXAS CITY – A high level strategic monitoring and evaluation workshop for the municipality of Ivisan, Capiz was conducted by the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) last July 27 to give direction to the town’s project management.
The activity dubbed COMPASS and in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was designed to review and chart new strategies for local and regional economic development in the municipality.
Ivisan Mayor Felipe Yap, who conveyed his commitment to the economic development of his municipality, has expressed his support to the strategies in developing the strategies in his locality.
For her part, DTI Provincial Director Emelinda P. Pollentes has described the COMPASS workshop as a dynamic approach in mapping out action-oriented strategies and activities.
“It is an effective tool, based on the balanced score card method, that informs local stakeholders of their progress in an efficient way,” she said.
One issue that was tackled during the workshop was the capability building on investment development and management for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ivisan.
“The SMEDSEP, a development cooperation project between the Republic of the Philippines and the Federal Republic of Germany, aims to improve the business and investment climate for MSMEs in the Philippines especially in the Visayas,” said a GTZ press release.
SMEDSEP contributes to the efforts of the Philippine government to improve the framework conditions for private sector development in the country. It is implemented in partnership with the DTI at national, regional and provincial levels and the GTZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The GTZ is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations owned by the German Government.
