Bermejo’s SORCA cites city’s developments
ROXAS CITY – City Mayor Vicente Bermejo’s 1st State of the Roxas City Address (SORCA) highlighted more on infrastructures, roads, relocation site of squatters, lightings of city’s streets, increase of collection and cash possession, decrease of expenditures, among others. Overall Bermejo said the city is strong and has become stronger.
Bermejo delivered his 1st SORCA at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center at around 2:30 p.m. on July 31 attended by city officials, employees and his supporters.
In service enhancement, Bermejo said that his administration installed business permit one-stop-shop thereby reducing the steps 10 to 7; installed Batch Request Entry System; increases in collection of fishery licensing and boat registration; installing 1,090 tetra pod barricade for Diwal and fish sanctuary; putting up tourist attraction and many others.
In urban management, the mayor said that there are 1,300 informal settlers in the city in which he had utilized the 15 hectares lot in Culasi, a Nuevo Culasi Reclamation Project which can accommodate some 1,300 families. He added that he already bought 6 hectares in Barangay Tanza thru the help of National Housing Authority (NHA) which could benefit some 600 squatters.
Bermejo also said that he also planned to buy another 32 hectares in Brgy Balijuagan which could accommodate some 3,800 informal settlers.
In livelihood generation, Bermejo said that the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Roxas City is helping to generate employment among Capizeños locally and abroad.
According to Bemejo, COA report of 2009, the 2008 income was P61,567,507.64 which is higher than that of 2007, P 34,803,693.71 with an increase by P26,763,813,93 or 77%.
He added that the expenditures in 2008 amounted to P 254,643,304.09 compared to P263,572,619.13 in 2008 which means savings in the amount of P 8,929,315.04 of 3.38%.
He also said that since the one-stop-stop, the city government was able to collect P18.8 million in 2008 and 20.4 million in 2009 compared to P8 million in 2007 from business permits.
The mayor also said that the city government has cash possession as to date in the amount of P234,566,933.20 compared to P193,433,941.83 in 2007 which has an increase of P41 M or 17%.
The city mayor , who was accompanied by all city councilors, thanked Mrs. Judy Roxas, Sen. Mar Roxas and her sister Rhea Roxas-Ojeda.
He also thanked city employees, NGOs, civic groups and the local media.
