Tabugon, champion in Udyakan dance competition
The Tabugon contingent is first prize
winner in Udyakan Dance competition
in Kabankalan City.
Tabugon dance group was named champion in Udyakan 09 competition which highlighted the 12th Charter Day celebration of the city of Kabankalan on Aug. 2.
The second and third places went to Talubangi Extension High School and Bantayan National High School respectively.
Tabugon also won the Best in Production Design and Choreography. Bantayan won the Best in Street Dancing.
The seven others participating schools were Kabankalan Catholic College, Southland College, Tapi National High School, Florentino Galang Sr. National High School, Talubangi Extension School, Poblacion Extension School and Binicuil National High School.
Ismael Java of West Negros College was the chair of the board of judges composed of six members. He said an important criteria for judging was the inclusion of dance steps which has originated from Kabankalan.
The cash prize for the winners are P30,000 for the first prize, P20,000 for the second prize and P10,000 for the third prize.
Udyakan is a yearly dance festival that reflects the mirthful and playful spirits of Kabankalanons. (Eddie Yap)
