NOPPO personnel happy with salary hike
BACOLOD CITY — Effective July of this year, personnel of the Philippine National Police all over the country received decent salary increases as part of the PNP’s Integrated Transformation Program in order to boost the morale of policemen.
The PNP is seeking to improve the welfare and benefits of lawmen in the police service in relation to their duties and responsibilities in the maintenance of peace and order in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
According to NOPPO spokesman Police Chief Inspector Rico Santotome Jr, a policeman with the rank of Police Officer 1 is earning P10,808 in his base pay aside from additional perks like clothing allowance, longevity and hazardous pay as part of his monthly salary.
That’s a 14.18% increase for a PO1 while a personnel with the rank of Senior Police Officer 4 will earn P18,850 beginning this year, up by 17.87% from his previous P15,992 base pay prior to the salary hike.
A cadet in the Philippine National Police Academy is receiving P20,708 basic pay while undergoing four years of cadetship training free of any expenses being government scholars.
A Police Inspector (Lieutenant in the AFP) will be receiving a monthly base pay of P21,836, a Senior Inspector (Captain)-P23,128, a Chief Inspector (Major)-P24,202, A Superintendent (Lt Col)-P25,543 and a Senior Superintendent (Colonel)-P26,967 beginning July 2009.
Police Officer 3 Anabelle Sy, a policewoman assigned with NOPPO’s Womens and Children’s Concerns Desk, was elated with the recent salary increase and said that it will help defray the rising cost of prices of basic commodities and thanked the national government as well as the PNP leadership under Police Director General Jesus Verzosa for the pay hike.
In return, NOPPO director Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix, reminded PNP personnel in the province to be of good assistance to Negrenses and to continue in improving the delivery of the expected support to the flag, the country and their fellow Filipinos.
