Usec. Jamora target of assassination?
A liquidation plot is reportedly in the works with the price put on the head of a prospective candidate for mayor of Iloilo City .
This surfaced over the weekend during a radio interview with the supposed target, Presidential Adviser for Water, Undersecretary Lorenzo “Larry” Jamora.
Heard Saturday over Bombo Radyo, noontime anchorman Rodel Fullon called Undersecretary Jamora to verify widespread reports on threats aimed at Jamora’s life.
Jamora disclosed that earlier last week, information from the intelligence community disclosed “efforts” to have him killed. Allegedly the information was that “some people” from Janiuay or Pototan were being offered the amount of P200,000 for his death.
Asked about the veracity of the report, Jamora was quick to say though that this was raw information. Just the same, he asked authorities to conduct further investigation and validate the report.
“I do not give credit to these reports,” Jamora told Bombo Radyo. “It is possible that these are just stories that have come out of the coffee shops.”
On the other hand, if there is substance to the raw information, Jamora said it can only be because of politics. The former Local Water Utilities Administration Administrator (LWUA) and Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) General Manager noted that the said reports only came out soon after he announced his intention to run for city mayor. He said it may be possible that the stories may have just been deliberately spread to frighten or deter him from his visits to the barangays in the city.
Death threats notwithstanding, Jamora said he has decided to run for city mayor.
“I will not back down,” he vowed.
