Termination of Gamboa’s casuals ‘accidental’, says Leonardia
BACOLOD CITY — Mayor Evelio Leonardia denied reports that the termination of the nine casuals of Councilor Wilson Gamboa was an offshoot of the latter’s abstention to the resolution giving him authority to sign the Loan Agreement with Philippine National Bank.
Leonardia said it was purely accidental since casuals are flexible depending on the availability of the budget.
In an interview with Gamboa earlier he said that he would not make any comment whether or not it has something to do with his stand during the voting since he did not approach the mayor yet on the issue.
“It is the discretion of the mayor so I respect that,” he stressed.
Last week the Sangguniang Panglungsod by a vote 10 affirmative, two negative and one abstention, approved the request of the mayor giving him the authority to sign the Loan Agreement with Philippine National Bank.
The loan amounted to P150 million pesos for the acquisition of land to be used as relocation site.
Gamboa said he abstained during the voting because he was not contented with the documents presented even if he and Leonardia are partymates.
He also said that rumors that he will transferred to another camp is another issue and not true.
