Tigbauan mayor seeks P5.1M in added budget for new car, more office ‘techies’
Over P5 million in additional budget has now been sought by an Iloilo town mayor with a new car and P800,000 in new office equipment and audio-video supplies in top three ‘shopping list.’
Contained in Appropriation Ordinance No. 2009-004, Mayor James Excelsior Torres requested for legislative approval with the matter reaching the Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) for procedural review.
Exact amount covering the supplemental budget needed by Torres was P5,150,000.00. All under the Office of the Mayor, P1.5 million has been allotted for “Community Development Assistance Program”(CDAP) otherwise known as mayor’s “pork barrel.” Next highest planned expenditure was P800,000 in office fixtures and audio-video needs while P600,000 was earmarked for a new “municipal motoring vehicle.”
Further still in the multi-million supplemental budget were budget-requests of P200,000 for the mayor’s financial assistance to the town’s indigents. A similar amount requested that will cover travel and seminar expenses of the mayor and those under the Mayor’s Office.
Sports program meantime will get P300,000 in added funding while P.5 million was earmarked for “Agricultural Production Shore-up.” P.5 million too for the improvement of the town’s plaza “parks and alike” as so stated in the document presented to the Capitol SP.
Other expenditures under the P5.1 million supplemental budget were P300,000 for repair and maintenance of municipal equipment and vehicle and the P250,000 for the senior citizens’ building.
