Brgy execs, town mayors want Del Rosario to seek reelection
ROXAS CITY – Several towns and municipal mayors particularly 12 barangay captains of Panitan have signed a manifesto urging 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario to seek reelection and not to run for city mayor.
This was confirmed by Del Rosario during an interview over RMN-dyVR radio program ‘Straight to the point’ anchored by Ely Abarra.
Del Rosario, who is groomed to run for mayor against Mayor Vicente Bermejo in 2010 election, said earlier that he will run for city mayor once he is fielded by Sen. Mar Roxas.
Meanwhile, Del Rosario urged the city government under the leadership of Bermejo to focus on peace and order situation in the city where many killing incidents occurred that are still unsolved as of press time.
Del Rosario also said that the peace and order is the obligations of the city mayor to solve.
The 1st district solon also said that the P10 million funds for the drainage system in Barangay Inzo Arnaldo and Banica was his request fund from the national government and not by the city mayor. He added that the said project will be undertaken by the 1st engineering district.
Earlier, Bermejo said during his weekly coffee talk with the local media that the city government will shell out the P10 million to construct the drainage system in Barangay Inzo Arnaldo and Banica.
Bermejo also said that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional office will be the one to undertake the projects.
The incumbent city mayor also said that another P40 million funds to construct drainage system projects in the city which he requested from President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is underway.
