Caña sets eyes on congressman or vice-mayor
BACOLOD CITY — Lawyer and former councilor Lyndon Caña has two choices now after he was tasked as the provincial chairman of Bangon Pilipinas, the movement pushing religious leader Bro. Eddie Villanueva to run for president in the upcoming 2010 elections.
Caña said he might run either for congressman in the Lone District of Bacolod or as vice-mayor.
He is also the campaign manager of newly launched group “Pagbag-o” wherein his client and businessman Vladimir Gonzales is the standard bearer who has decided to run for mayor in the city.
Caña ran for vice mayor last 2007 elections, unfortunately he was defeated by Vice-Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.
If the former councilor will run this 2010 for vice mayor he is welcome, Vice-Mayor Sayson said.
“As politician we cannot choose our contender in the elections,” Sayson said.
Sayson said, as much as possible he wanted not to compete with Caña as he respects the former councilor and believe on his vision as statesman but this is a democratic country where everybody can do his share in governance.
Meanwhile, Caña’s group had officially expressed their full and unequivocal support to charismatic leader Bro. Eddie Villanueva.
In their press statement, it states that they strongly believe that Villanueva possesses moral, academic, experiential, spiritual and mental qualities and qualifications that prepare him best to lead the country.
“We affirm that the country need righteousness as we believe that this will put and end or greatly reduce corruption, promote statesmanship, enhance responsibility in government, and engender honor, integrity, decency, and industry in our leaders, exemplified at the top, and followed all the way down to the bottom,” reads their statement.
They are also ready to work hard without pay, to give their meager resources, to pray, and sacrifice, and go out of the comfort zone to help Bro. Eddie in his fight, as he leads with integrity of heart and skillful hands.
With this, some political analysts in the city said the group of Gonzales in ‘Pagbag-o’ where Caña also belongs might be also the local candidates for the Bangon Pilipinas.
