Brigada Eskwela ‘kuryente check’ launched in Capiz
ROXAS CITY – Officials of the Capiz Electric Cooperative (CAPELCO) has launched the Brigada Eskwela Kuryente Check in Capiz.
According to Kenneth Emmanuel Tipon, Information Officer of said electric cooperative, the initiative is part of the observance of this year’s National Electrification Awareness month which is being observed every August.
Tipon pointed out that the Kuryente Check is their contribution to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela activities which is a concerted efforts of all stakeholders, including the private sector in preparing for the opening of classes.
He said that among their activities is the checking of electrical wirings in the school premises, particularly in the classrooms as well as conduct of lecture on the role of students and school officials in energy conservation.
He added that the Kuryente Check was launched in President Manuel Roxas Memorial School, North and South in Roxas City last July 1 and will continue to reach other public elementary and high schools in the province.
Meanwhile, CAPELCO General Manager Edgar Diaz appeals to its electric consumers to sustain its support to the cooperative, particularly by being vigilant against erring individuals.
He also commended the efforts of the congressmen from the first and second districts of Capiz for providing subsidy fund to energize the far-flung sitios in the province.
Diaz said that with the continued support of top officials, they would be able to provide said services to all Capiceños, particularly those living in the remotest areas here.
Earlier, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has ordered the National Electrification Administration to fast track the electrification of the remaining 743 rural barangays nationwide before the year ends.
President Arroyo disclosed that her administration has so far extended P5.2 billion in financial assistance, the biggest in the country’s history, to electric cooperatives to enable them to accomplish their goal of bringing the benefit of electricity to all barangays. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
