Pag-ulikid reaches grassroots
ROXAS CITY – The Capiz provincial government sustains its funding for various infrastructure projects to stimulate the economic growth in the province.
These projects are part of the “Pag-ulikid” battlecry of Gov. Victor Tanco’s administration to secure the Capiceños’ welfare and interest towards a better quality of life.
Pag-ulikid is a Hiligaynon term which means “to care.”
Tanco said the provincial government will continue to fund and support barangay infrastructure projects “as long as the people will benefit from them.”
The message was conveyed by the provincial top executive during the release of P200,000.00 financial assistance for various infrastructure projects of Barangays Aglupacan, Sinunod, Minan and Abangay in Tapaz town.
The amount will be utilized by the concerned barangay officials in the construction of foot trails and a barangay stage.
Earlier, two new birthing facilities were also turned over by the provincial government to Tapaz recipient-barangays in line with its enhanced health service delivery.
The delivery of basic quality health care and infrastructure projects for Capiceños is in line with the national government’s agenda to improve the quality of life among Filipinos in the countryside.
President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo, like Tanco, has also been personally extending assistance to the barangay level through the Barangay Hall Development and Extension project to ensure that the economic gains of her administration will be felt in the community level.
The latest beneficiary of the project was the newly-completed barangay hall of Barangay Sto. Tomas in Lubao, Pampanga whose recent inauguration rites was graced by the President.
The P500,000 barangay hall project was funded through the president’s social fund. It houses a multi-purpose hall including offices for the Sangguniang Kabataan and Lupon ng mga Tagapamayapa. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
