Mother to face parricide case for drowning 4 kids
BACOLOD CITY -- A 44-year old mother in Barangay Cambayobo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental is now detained at Calatrava PNP for drowning to death her four children in a river last Thursday morning.
Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) spokesman Chief Inspector Rico Santotome identified the suspect as Florencia Bahibag of the said place.
Santotome reported that the suspect threw first into the river her youngest son, John Mark, 9 months old and later held down her three other children -- Flora Mae Jean, 12; Jose Nino, 6 and Veronica, 5 yrs old.
According to Police Inspector Danilo Zuniega, Calatrava PNP Chief, the suspect mother went home and told her husband Eminiano that their four children got drowned, prompting the latter to rush to the area where he found two of them already drowning. Eminiano reportedly tried to revive his eldest child after he found her still with a heartbeat but Flora Mae Jean died later.
Police is set to file a parricide case against the suspect. NOPPO Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Manuel Felix directed the Calatrava PNP Chief to extend whatever support to the family of the victims.
