Flag-raising activities in brgys pushed
National Liga ng mga Barangay (LNMB) president Ricojudge “RJ” Echiverri has urged their 42,000 member barangays nationwide to promote flag-raising activities that will enhance awareness of their national identity.
This after the LNMB National Executive Board (NEB) approved a resolution mandating barangays to observe a flag raising ceremony and assembly every first Monday of the month during the groups 3rd national convention in Manila Friday.
The approved resolution also took cognizance of the significance of the national flag as a symbol of the country’s sovereignty and unity.
“We encourage every barangay all over the country to fly the national flag at least once a month in order to renew efforts to strengthen respect and allegiance to the Philippine Flag and what it stands for,” Echiverri stressed.
He also directed the dissemination of information regarding the salient points of the Heraldic Code of the Philippines known as Republic Act 8491.
The NEB, meanwhile, directed all chapter presidents to monitor the strict compliance with the resolution and to institute appropriate action on erring barangay or village official found violating the directive. (PNA)
