HRMOs to play early ‘Santa’ among Pilar town kids
ROXAS CITY – An outreach program has been set by the Council of Personnel Officers (CPO) at the gymnasium of Pilar, Capiz on September 28 in line with the 109 th Philippine Civil Service Month celebration.
“We will distribute packages of goods to 5 poorest children in each of the town’s 24 barangays,” said Roxas City’s Human Resource Management Officer (HRMO) and CPO President Marilyn Albaran.
Pilar town mayor Ma. Rita Lyn B. Patricio and Civil Service Commission (CSC) – Provincial Director Ma. Cynthia P. A. Gellegani are expected to grace the gift-giving activity.
The program will be followed by the Council’s meeting which will be attended by various HRMOs coming from local government units (LGU), national government agencies (NGA), government owned and controlled corporations (GOCC), and water districts, among others.
The month-long celebration with the theme “Honoring our Heroes in Republic Service – Responsive, Ethical Public Servants with Vision, Impact, Commitment and Excellence” commemorates the establishment of the civil service system in the country through Public Law No. 5 (“An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of Our Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Island”) in 1900 by the Second Philippine Commission.
“We in the public sector are unique because among other callings and careers, we serve not just the public, but the Republic,” said CSC Chair Ricardo L. Saludo in his anniversary message for the bureaucracy.
Highlight of activities for the anniversary month is the awarding of this year’s Outstanding Public Servants on Sept. 17 at the Malacañang Palace.
The annual recognition for outstanding public servants is in line with the CSC’s Honor Awards Program that will also mark its 50th anniversary this year. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
