Lastimoso prefers Bolante as opponent
ROXAS CITY – Former PNP Chief retired Gen. Roberto “Bobby” Lastimoso said if given a chance to choose an opponent, he prefers to oppose former Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante compared to Mrs. Jane Castro, wife of Cong. Fredenil Castro, in the 2nd district congressional race.
Lastimoso, who is also former chief of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Assistant Secretary (Asec) of Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and Manager of Manila Rail Transit (MRT), declared to run for congressman in the 2nd district while Usec. Bolante revealed his intention to run for governor in the 2010 election.
Lastimoso will face Mrs. Castro in 2nd district while Bolante will be facing incumbent Governor Victor Tanco, Sr.
Lastimoso said it is easier to defeat Bolante since the latter was involved in the P728 million fertilizer scam issue which could not be easily forgotten by the Capiceños.
The former PNP chief observed that in his early sorties Bolante devotes time clarifying the issue regarding his involvement in the P728 fertilizer scam instead of focusing on his programs.
Earlier, Bolante denied pocketing the P728 million fertilizer fund, saying he was cleared by the lower house and even the senate on the issue.
