Panay town excels in good governance
ROXAS CITY – Panay town under the leadership of Mayor Dante Bermejo has excelled in good governance in a recent evaluation conducted by evaluators composed of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), provincial government, private sectors, DepEd and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Bermejo, a former provincial administrator, said that the awarding of winners will be on December this year which coincides with the holding of Sinadya sa Halaran celebration.
It was learned that last year Panay town got second place while Pontevedra won the 1st place of category.
The Panay mayor said that the contest is already in its second year with an objective to gauge the capacity of the local government units (LGUs) in good governance; to identify the innovation of LGUs that contributed progress of their towns; recognized the innovation and efforts of LGUs to build and ability to improve the condition of their municipality and sharing and comparing other towns on good governance.
Bermejo added that Panay town topped in transparency governance, health and nutrition, agriculture. where he thought his town won the contest.
Panay town is also two times winner of Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran (GPK) or cleanest and greenest town in Capiz.
