UNA invites Amb. Cojuangco in convention
BACOLOD CITY — No less than Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco is invited in the convention of United Negros Alliance (UNA) on October 10, 2009.
Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon, gubernatorial candidate of the UNA in Negros Occidental said he is very hopeful that CojuanGco will be there to grace the occasion as they will also reveal their candidates from board members, mayors and congressman in the upcoming 2010 elections.
Recently, Marañon revealed that there are new names especially in the congressional bid that will join the UNA and will serve as their official candidates.
They are Albee Benitez of 3rd District and Mercedes Alvarez, daughter of incumbent congressman Genaro Alvarez, in the 6th District.
Meanwhile, Congressman Jeffrey Ferrer who will be running as congressman of the 4th District said that his support for Marañon is 100%.
He also thanked all the mayors and officials of his district for trusting him to again run as congressman.
Ferrer also ended various speculations regarding his intention to run as governor.
“It’s not true because I have still a lot of things to do in my district,” he added.
On the other hand, Vice Governor Emilio Yulo III maintained his silence on what elective position he will vie in the 2010 elections.
Yulo said his other option, aside from running for vice governor, is to go back in the fifth district of Negros Occidental, but refused to say what position he will run for.
When asked of what position is he running for in his district, Yulo said, “I am not saying whether I will run for congressman or whatever… but the option is always open for me to go back to my district”.
He will also attend the UNA meeting if he is invited like what happened last 2007.
