DTI-Capiz sets quality, safe mandatory products expo
ROXAS CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Office will mount the “Consumer Welfare, Product Quality and Safety Standards Expo from October 6 to 8 at the Gaisano City Mall’s Activity Center in Arnaldo Boulevard here as part of the nationwide observance of the Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) this October.
DTI Public Information Officer Ken Cuñada said that the show will be for public viewing only and will showcase mandatory products that have meet existing safety and quality standards such as electrical and wiring devices, home appliances, automotive parts and construction materials.
These products bear the Philippine National Standards (PNS) required markings such as PS mark or ICC stickers. The PS and ICC markings signify that the product passed the tests and inspections by the Bureau of Product Standards and are safe to use.
The three-day promotional event will be participated in by some leading local retailers like Dancor Auto Parts, Mirola Merchandising, Panay Floor Center, AM Builders Depot, Imperial Appliance Plaza, HLH Marketing, Inc., Paolo Marketing, CITI Hardware, Gaisano City – Roxas Main, BY & Sons Trading, Amado Lim Enterprises and Raychin Marketing.
“This is part of the DTI’s commitment to protect the welfare and safety of consumers through continued consumer education program,” stressed Cuñada.
The CWM celebration every October is embodied in Presidential Proclamation No. 1098 issued by President Fidel Ramos in 1997. (DTI/PIA/A.Lumaque)
