Provincial Local Price Coordinating Council holds meeting
BACOLOD CITY — Acting Gov. Emilio Yulo III, Chairman of the Provincial Local Price Coordinating Council (PLPCC), convened the council members of the PLPCC to monitor the prices of basic and prime commodities in the province.
The meeting is in view of the implementation of Proclamation No. 1898 of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declaring the country under the national state of calamity due to the massive devastation caused by typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng.
PLPCC is composed of 3rd District Board Member Patrick S. Lacson, SP Chairman, Committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry, Rebecca Rascon, PLPCC Vice Chair and Provincial Director of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Bureau of Agricultural Statistics(BAS), National Food Authority (NFA), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD), Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, Air Transportation Office (ATO), Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Provincial Health Office (PHO), Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO).
Board Member Lacson said that the provincial government will request the 32 towns and cities to convene their respective local price coordinating councils to monitor the prices in their respective areas. He added that that the proclamation also directs the DTI to effectively control the prices of basic commodities.
Acting Gov. Yulo said that PLPCC will request the business sector to retain prices of basic commodities until the “state of calamity” proclamation is lifted.
