Prov’l vet holds first Paravet assembly
BACOLOD CITY — The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) led by Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Renante J. Decena held the First Paravet District Assembly at San Carlos City Auditorium, San Carlos City on Friday, October 2, 2009.
The activity, participated in by 149 Para-veterinarians (Paravets) of District 1, is aimed at strengthening services to farmers and animal raisers in Negros Occidental. Of the 149 Paravets, 48 of whom are from Calatrava, 34 from Toboso, 27 from Escalante, 22 from San Carlos and 18 from Don Salvador Benedicto.
The activity, in line with the HEARTS PLUS Program of Gov. Isidro P. Zayco and Vice Gov. Emilio L. Yulo III, includes sharing of technical information, distribution of drugs and veterinary paraphernalia from the provincial government and an open forum on latest issues and concerns.
Decena, in his message, said that the assembly is a springboard towards the advancement of technical knowledge of the Paravets through continuous and sufficient technical training to better attend the veterinary needs of farmers and animal raisers.
San Carlos City Mayor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson welcomed the delegates and expressed his support to the activity while San Miguel Animal Health Care, the activity’s main sponsor through the initiative of Dr. Eliezer Tampo, pledged to maintain their support to the celebration until its culmination on November 20.
The 2nd Para-vet Assembly is slated October 9 at La Playa Beach Resort, Brgy. Manta-angan, EB Magallona which will be followed by La Carlota City on October 16 at La Carlota Gymnasium; November 4 at Hinoba-an Gymnasium; November 11 at La Castellana Fast Track; and the last will be on November 20 at Balay Kauswagan, Sagay City.
