20th Nutrition Congress to highlight Media Forum, Recognition of Green Banner Awardees
The 20th Nutrition Congress slated October 14 will highlight a Media Forum on the status of the Accelerated Hunger Mitigation Program (AHMP) and the awarding of outstanding Local government units in nutrition program for 2009.
Regional Nutrition Coordinator Nona Tad-y said the Congress is the culminating activity of the 2009 Nutrition Month celebration focusing on proper health and nutrition among Filipinos to prevent diseases.
Tad-y said the Media Forum in Iloilo is part of the nationwide multi-media campaign in support of the AHMP, as among the flagship programs of government to combat poverty.
The Green Banner Award, Tad-y added, will also be given to Outstanding Municipality, City and Province in the region for their performance in nutrition while the Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars as frontline workers in nutrition, will also be recognized.
Tad-y said other activities during the congress will be the pledge of support and commitment of Barangay Nutrition Scholars as advocates of good nutrition with Health Secretary Francisco Duque, Chairman of the NNC Governing Board and Lead Convenor of the AHMP.
The program and awarding ceremonies will be held at Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center, starting with a Registration at 8:00 A.M, and the Media Forum, will be at 11:00 A.M. in the same venue. (PIA6/ESS)
