PGMA set to visit Negros on Oct. 20
BACOLOD CITY — President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo may visit Negros Occidental particularly the 5th District tentatively on October 20, 2009 as disclosed by Rep. Ignacio T. Arroyo, 5th District of Negros Occidental.
He said the President will lead the inauguration of the infrastructure projects of her brother-in-law including two bridges in his district.
He said that if she comes, she will also show him the hospital that they built in Isabela in memory of their father Ignacio Sr.
For now, the schedule of the President could not yet be ascertained if she will come here on October 20 because of the calamities in Luzon brought about by floods and typhoons.
Rep. Arroyo was also at the United Negros Alliance (UNA) fellowship day held at the Nature’s Village in Talisay City, Saturday.
It was asked there during the press conference on who will be the presidential bet that UNA and Nationalist People’s Coalition will be supporting in the 2010 elections?
Arroyo said that it’s up to their respective parties to decide. For now, the LAKAS provincial chair is Governor Isidro P. Zayco.
Former Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco could not even say categorically who from his two nephews Sen. Noynoy Aquino, Liberal Party standard bearer, and Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Administration bet, will he support.
He said the other nephew, without naming names, has left the party and this means that “wala kaming kwenta sa kanya” so why should he be a bother to me?
Sen. Aquino when he was here recently said that he is planning to talk with his Uncle Danding regarding his plans to run for President in the 2010 elections.
He hopes they could talk. But the Senator said that he cannot also tell an elder what to do.
UNA has chosen their bets for the Gubernational and Vice Gubernatorial posts in the province of Negros Occidental last Saturday.
Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon was the chosen official to run for Governor under UNA and Rep. Genaro “Lim-ao” Alvarez, 6th District for Vice Governor.
Cojuangco attended the fellowship day of the UNA officials and members.
