‘Tahanang Walang Hagdan’ calls for help
BACOLOD CITY — “Tahanang Walang Hagdan,”(TWH) was badly hit by typhoon “Ondoy” recently leaving more than a P5 million damage and is appealing to kind hearted Bacoleños for donations for its rehabilitation..
TWH is a non-government organization that promotes the cause of thousands of Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in the country.
As its name says, it is a house where there are no steps because the residents are on wheel chair. Over time, the differently-abled occupants were trained to produce wheel chair in their compound at Cainta, Rizal.
It is from this institution where some of the wheelchair donations to PWDs and civic organizations in Bacolod City come from through London-based nurse Jocelyn Lantron. About 20 wheelchairs have already been turned-over to beneficiaries in the city and there are more to come.
Seeing the sad plight of “Tahanan” building and properties, Lantron and husband John, instantly donated P100, 000 for its rehabilitation.
President Gloria M. Arroyo also visited TWH during her ocular inspection of areas ravaged by the typhoon and witnessed the distribution of relief goods.
Lantron urges civic minded Bacoleños to extend a helping hand to the organization by donating to TWH through her office at Global Placement Provider Services (GPPS), where she is the Executive Director, at Rm. 8, 3rd Floor, St. Francis Center, Araneta Ave.
GPPS obtained a license in the United Kingdom accept student visas and charity working visas bound to the United Kingdom as Britons prefer Filipino workers, especially nurses, to work in their nursing homes.
Lantron told PIA that Bacoleños who applied in “Global’s” job fairs last year have already been deployed to the UK and are now sending back as much as P60,000 a month to their families here. (PIA-LOL)
