‘Economic activity improves during MassKara Festival’
BACOLOD CITY — Councilor Homer Bais said that he has seen the improvement of the economic activity in Bacolod City with the holding of the 30th MassKara festival and Charter Day celebrations where more tourists are coming in to the city to enjoy the festivities.
He said that the MassKara festival is one way to improve the income of the local businessmen including small time vendors down to the trisikad drivers.
All hotels, restaurants and even the kiosks are increasing their income because people spend while enjoying the festivities.
He said that every year, the economic activity improves by 40% as maximum. Money circulates in the city. While the festivities are on its peak, traffic bottle necks cannot be avoided. But the city is taking an effort to minimize it.
Bacolod City vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said that they have hired additional twenty traffic aides for the 30th MassKara festival.
The additional traffic aides will be deployed in several areas that normally experience traffic jams and traffic bottle necks.
He said that there is a traffic enforcer assigned in every road intersection to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
He said that if the public has any traffic concern, they can contact the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) hotline at 433-7143.
Sayson also said that on October 19, they will implement the truck ban at the Circumferential Road from 6 a.m. – 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.–8 p.m.
He said they will issue citation tickets for those who are caught violating the ban.
He said the traffic lights at the Lopue’s East area are now operating to decongest the traffic flow in said area.
Moreover, Sayson asked for the cooperation of the people for this temporary situations while the city is celebrating MassKara festival and Charter Day celebration.
He said that on October 15, 16, 17 and 18, Lacson Street will be closed for the Electric MassKara activities.
On October 15, Lacson will be closed to motorists starting 8 p.m.. On October 16, 17 and 18, the closure will start at 6 p.m.
