The SOS Children’s Fun Run
“Challenge, participation, fun and charity for everyone ” it was all about 1st Fun Run of SOS Children’s Village Iloilo recently.
It was opened to anyone and NSTP student ages 14 to 17 years old for three kilometers category and 18 and above for five kilometers from the Zarraga Plaza open field to Brgy. Gines basketball court and Hacineda Fe – Phase I respectively.
The pouring rain and strong winds didn’t stop the runners from their tasks.
Those who came shared physical fitness exercises before the drum roll as a signal to start the run.
There were about 722 participants. SOS Children’s Village Iloilo is thankful to those who took part and helped in any way to make the event successful.
Presently, SOS-Iloilo cares for 131 children ages 3 to 20 years old. There are 12 family houses, with each house having eight to 10 children and a professional mother trained by the SOS Children’s Village National Training Consultant. They are single women dedicated to provide unconditional love and untiring care for the children they are serving. Also, it has 1,111 family members under its Family Strengthening Program-an extension program that assist the children of families with more than three children and economically hard up.
