Cop in hot water for taking collection money of carnival
BACOLOD CITY — Police Officer (PO) 1 Ramon Senoro is now in ‘hot water’ after a carnival manager accused him of coercion.
Police blotter revealed that Florencio Guzman, 30, of Triple M Carnival situated at Reclamation Area and a resident of Tigbauan, Iloilo said that PO1 Senoro took their collection amounting to P1,500.
In an interview, Guzman said he was about to collect the money from the booth of one of their rides when the policeman came and grabbed the money from their teller.
“I asked him to give the money back, but he told me to follow him,” Guzman said.
Another employee of the carnival, whose name is being withheld, also claimed that Senoro asked for P500 for the snacks of his fellow policemen.
On the other hand, Bacolod City Police officer in charge, Senior Supt. Celestino Guara, said he has not received a copy yet of the complaint from the carnival manager as he encouraged him to file appropriate charges against Senoro.
“Proper procedures will be followed as part of due process,” he said.
Guara is amenable that there are some policemen who must undergo disciplinary actions for them to perform their duty well.
Senoro who is assigned at the Police Station 5 of the Bacolod City Police Office could not be reach for comment after his name was mentioned publicly.
The complainant said they would probably lodge their complaint to Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas, Regional Director of PRO-6.
