Document shows Rolling Hills control Basoc funds
BACOLOD CITY — Romy Niere, convenor of Save Bacolod Movement (SBM), again exposed another “bombshell” against Bacolod City Rep. Monico Puentevella following the controversial filing of plunder charges against the solon by the Philippine Sports Commission.
Niere presented to the press a document dated October 25, 2005 sent by Mr. Eric Loretizo, Basoc Secretary General, to Edwin Javellana, Chief Finance Officer of Rolling Hills Group of Companies, requesting for the operational budget of Bacolod Sea Games Organizing Committee (Basoc) amounting to P188,980.
Niere said the letter showed that Rolling Hills Group of Companies, which is a private firm owned by the family of Cong. Puentevella, controlled the funds of the Basoc which is a government entity.
“Rolling Hills controlled Basoc funds and Basoc Secretary General Loretizo was at the mercy of Mr. Javellana because he had to seek the approval of the latter before he can disburse the funds,” Niere said.
He asked where in the world we can find a private employee exercising authority over a government entity which he is not in anyway part of it.
“Mr. Javellana was not connected with Basoc but he was the ‘boss’ of Mr. Loretizo when it comes to money,” he stressed.
He also divulged that the reason behind is that Mr. Javellana along with Puentevella, his wife Josefa and son Bryan are signatories of the solon’s personal current account 1-422-15863-0 at RCBC where the four checks amounting to P50.5 million was deposited.
With these according to Niere the SBM condemns the arrogance and deceitful attitude being shown by Puentevella.
“The movement denounces the lies and falsehoods being peddled by Puentevella and his crony of liars and blind supporters who, instead of admitting their mistakes and failures, would like to blame other people for their misfortunes,” he added.
Niere said the SBM would like to set the record straight and prove to Puentevella and his cohorts that they cannot fool the people of Bacolod all for the time.
The News Today-Negros tried to get the reaction of Puentevella’s spokesperson Ramon Viba but he said he is in the middle of an interview and he will callback later but to no avail as of this press time.
