Mayor orders review of mall security in Iloilo City
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has instructed all police station commanders to review existing mall security here as an offshoot of what happened Sunday in Greenbelt 5 in Makati.
“We want stricter security so what happened (in Makati) won’t happen here,” the local chief executive said.
He was alarmed because if incidents of robbery and violence can take place in broad daylight in a big city like Makati, then it can more likely happen in Iloilo.
There are three big malls –SM, Robinsons Place and Gaisano-, their branches and other medium-sized commercial establishments in the city.
The mayor met with all station commanders Wednesday to discuss tighter security measures.
Checkpoints were in operation since the past days to further ensure peace and order in the metropolis. (PNA)
