Truck ban loosens up Cirumferential Road
BACOLOD CITY – The good effect of the truck ban along the Circumferential Road can already be felt even if it is only on its tenth day of implementation.
Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson observed that the scheme decongested the Circumferential Road resulting to a smooth flow of traffic.
The 45-day truck ban started last October 19.
Sayson said that the area where the trucks pass by became decongested while long lines of trucks have been observed in the highways like Alijis waiting for the time that the ban will lapse on that day.
Trucks are not allowed to pass the said highway from 6-9 a.m. and 4-8 p.m daily.
Sayson appealed to the truck drivers and owners not to travel on the said hours to avoid congestion in highways while waiting for proper time to pass on the Circumferential Road.
Amendment of the ordinance regarding this is now pending at the Sangguniang Panglungsod subject to the result of experimentation.
“There is a possibility that the 45-day traffic experiment will be extended just to avoid traffic jamming,” Sayson said.
The canetruck ban on peak hours is the solution to the various clamors from the public especially students as well as private and government employees.
