Edz Autencio: A Passion for Fashion
Fashion design is the applied art dedicated to clothing and lifestyle accessories created within the cultural and social influences of a specific time. The second Indigenous Fiber Fashion Fair held in SM City Iloilo on August 10-16, 2009 paid host to several booming fashion designers of this time. Edz Autencio, who has been a professional fashion designer for seven years, is one of the 4 fashion designers showcasing their creations at the event.
“It was just supposedly a hobby, just an interest. Even though I’ve really wanted to be a fashion designer at an early age, it seems that my family wanted me to be somebody else. But of course, my desire to become one was a major decision, I gave up a stable job in a stock trading firm and got a crash course related to designing and that’s it,” Edz said.
Edz’s specialty is with bridal and formal wear, and as a designer Edz claims to be light and easy, listening to and understanding what the client wants without sacrificing one’s art, creativity and innovation. To Edz, having outstanding recognition in the fashion designing field is only second best to having clients who come back and refer to their friends and families, that is an honorable achievement.
