‘The Firm’ saving last dance for Mar
A group dubbed as “The Firm” is closely working out a plan in switching the Aquino-Roxas tandem into Roxas-Aquino comes 2010 elections. This is a political development expected to shock Senator Noynoy Aquino’s supporters as the date of filing for the certificates of candidacy comes close.
The “Firm” is taking advantage of a brewing conflict between self-proclaimed Pro-Noynoy advocates namely: Hyatt 10 led by former DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman; civil society groups led by the Black and White Movement of singer Lea Navarro; members of the Liberal Party; the Aquino siblings and close family members of Noynoy.
Noynoy’s close knit relationship with his sisters and other relatives is being resented by his other backers. They consider this an intrusion to their political turf, thus placing their absolute hold on the neophyte senator at risk.
The support of the Aquino sisters to Noynoy has gained public admiration. They are not traditional politicians and their advocacy for change with Noynoy as the country’s top leader is much believable than any traditional politician.
The Firm plans to change their strategy by adding fuel to the fire that will eventually disintegrate Noynoy’s camp and giving Roxas an easy way to get back on the original plan. At the end of the political dance, Roxas is LP’s presidential candidate.
It was “The Firm” which eagerly designed Senator Mar Roxas’s political game plan since last year, eyeing the much coveted endorsement as presidential bearer of the Liberal Party. They are responsible from transforming Roxas elite appeal to “makimasa.” Thus, the Mr. Palengke identity to Mr. Padyak is maintained.
The death of former President Cory and the hype on the Aquino’s forced “The Firm” to change plan and temporarily give in to the public clamor for Noynoy’s candidacy.
However, not wanting to stay on supporting roles, these highly important and very influential supporters of Roxas is now slowly clawing their way to reinstall their bet as LP’s official presidential bet when he files his certificate of candidacy. The candidates seeking elective office can start filing their certificates of candidacy on November 20.
Noynoy’s tactless statement regarding the Marcos wealth endangered the plan – with the Marcos backing out and reneging on their pledge of support to the Aquino-Roxas team up.
The surprised visit of Representative Imee and Governor Bongbong Marcos during President Cory’s wake and the public apology issued by Imelda Marcos to the Aquino family was part of the political drama. The Marcoses will throw their support to the Aquino’s in exchange for Bongbong’s sure slot in the LP’s senatorial candidates.
If things will run smoothly, the Firm will unceremoniously dethrone Noynoy from being the LP’s standard bearer and save the last dance for the newly married senator. What a wonderful wedding gift to Roxas and wife Korina.
