Treñas to announce political plan Nov. 3
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas will announce his political plan for the 2010 election on November 3, 2009. He will make his announcement at the Treñas Law Office, 2nd floor of the Golden Commercial Center Building at Iznart, City Proper.
Treñas did not give any hint to the media about his plan on whether to run as congressman or accept the offer of Presidential Legal Counsel Raul Gonzalez Sr. for him to run as vice mayor. The elder Gonzalez will run as mayor while his son incumbent Representative Raul Gonzalez, Jr will run for his third and final term.
The media was informed of the schedule of Treñas’s announcement late yesterday afternoon.
In last week’s interview, Treñas said is he undergoing the process of discernment. He has also consulted his family and his close friends. He appealed that people or his supporters will accept whatever decision he comes up.
Treñas is a potential contender for the congressional post against incumbent Gonzalez Jr. Both belong to the Lakas party.
Treñas ends his third term as city mayor in 2010 while Gonzalez Jr. still has one term to serve.
Earlier, a multi-sectoral group led by Rudy Isleta initiated a signature drive to push for Treñas’s candidacy as congressman but the latter said he is still considering his options.
