LP awaits Bermejo’s decision to quit – Tanco
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, Sr said here recently that the Liberal Party (LP) under the leadership of Sen. Mar Roxas, as president, is waiting for City Mayor Vicente Bermejo to quit from the party.
This was revealed by Tanco last Friday with the local media at the Nesta’s Hill Top after the launching and press conference in connection with the hosting of the province of Western Visayas Tourism Assembly on December 4-6 this year.
“The LP is waiting for him to quit from the party however, if Bermejo will not, then the party will decide for him,” Tanco said.
Tanco, however, refused to comment when asked what will be the decision of the party on Bermejo’s status.
Bermejo, who is an LP stalwart, is rumored to be kicked out from the LP since he was linked to Ugyon Party with Former Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante.
Bolante, who earlier declared to run as governor, is the running mate of incumbent Vice Governor Felipe Barredo who is also the first cousin of Bermejo.
However, Bermejo’s camp and allies said that they will still br in LP and support Sen. Mar Roxas in his vice presidential bid.
In the recent visit of Sen. Mar Roxas, the senator declared that the LP will never pick allies who are thieves.
Sen. Roxas’s camp warned allies not to join Bolante’s party because the latter was grilled by the former during the Senate blue ribbon committee investigation on the P728 million alleged fertilizer scam which linked to Bolante as architect.
Bermejo, in an earlier interview, said that he is ready to be kicked out from party of that will be their decision.
Bermejo’s camp claimed that they are still dominant in the city considering that 40 out of 47 barangay captains support the city mayor.
