No extension of voters’ registration
City Commission on Elections (Comelec) Officer 4 G-Bert Arbis clarified that there is no extension of voters’ registration today. Voters who were able to submit their voters’ application on October 31 could come back to their office for the bio-metric scanning only.
Arbis made the clarification after many people asked their office if it is true that there would be an extension of voters’ registration. He said the Comelec national office has not in any way issued a memorandum to that effect.
The City Comelec was stormed by late registrants on the last day of the registration which was October 31. Applicants were made to choose on whether to finish the process of the registration after they have submitted their forms or return today, Tuesday, for the data capturing to complete their registration.
Arbis lamented that they have employed several schemes just to unclog the number of registrants before the deadline but to no avail. The Comelec went to the different districts in the city, universities and set up a satellite office to accommodate the registrants.
It is really a Filipino habit to beat the deadline and complain on the hassles while waiting for their turns to register, he said.
