Sapian livelihood training graduates render services
SAPIAN, Capiz – Residents of this town who recently graduated from livelihood training conducted by municipal government in cooperation with TESDA have already landed a job.
First Lady Evangeline Oñas Orosco, Ph.D, founder of Golden Ladies, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) said that the municipal government under her husband Mayor Arturo “Turic” Orosco, Sr. hired them for pay to render free services to ten barangays in Sapian.
“Dubbed as Kalinga sa Barangay”, the first lady said that hundreds of residents had benefited from free services of manicure and pedicure, massage services, cellphone cleaning and repairs, and hair cutting in Barangay Lonoy during the opening salvo of the Civic Action last Wednesday.
“We always think of what is good for our constituents especially the indigents,” the first lady said.
Mrs. Shirley Bulohado, 35, of Damayan, Sapian, one of the graduates of the livelihood training, said that she already earned money from her massage services as she thanked the Orosco couple for the opportunity they gave her to avail of the free livelihood training.
Earlier, the Orosco couple conducted “Programang Pangkabuhayan” trainings sponsored by Pasig-Mandaluyong-Marikina-San Juan (Pamamarisan) and TESDA where 12 livelihood courses were offered to the participants.
Mr. Danilo J. Solis, student affairs coordinator of St. Francis of Assisi–Las Piñas main campus, said that the 12 courses being taught for the 6-day training are: Cellphone repair, house keeping, bar tender, food processing, dress making, motorcycle engine trouble shooting, flower arrangement, welding technology, hair cutting, manicure and pedicure and massage therapy.
According to him, some 300 participants during the first batch have successfully graduated and landed a sustainable livelihood through training while some 350 participants who underwent training are expected to succeed, too.
