Wanted: Best DOLE-assisted livelihood projects in WV
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is searching for the best livelihood projects assisted in Western Visayas to compete with all the regional awardees for the island group level and eventually for the national level.
This project dubbed as DOLE Kabuhayan Awards aims to recognize the efforts of the beneficiaries in making their projects economically viable and sustainable.
The DOLE 6 has so far assisted some 114 livelihood projects under its capacity-building programs for livelihood formation, livelihood enhancement and livelihood restoration since year 2006.
The DOLE kabuhayan Awards consist of six categories such as Category 1: Sikap Kabuhayan Award which shall be conferred to outstanding individual worktrepreneurs;Category 2: Dagdag Kabuhayan Award to outstanding union or group enterprises; Category 3:Kabalikat Kabuhayan Award to outstanding women’s group projects; Category 4: Kanayunang Kabuhayan Award to outstanding agricultural workers’ group projects; Category 5:Isla Kabuhayan Award to outstanding fishermen’s group projects ; and Category 6: Kabataan Kabuhayan Award to outstanding youth group projects.
All DOLE 6-assisted projects (individual or group) implemented during the last 5 years for priority groups of beneficiaries are qualified to join in the search and may be nominated by Accredited Co-Partners (ACP), employers and other DOLE partners.
Self-nomination is also encouraged.
Selection and Judging
The DOLE Kabuhayan Awards is a three-level search starting from the Regional Level to island group level and finally the national level.
The awardees for the three (3) island groups (Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao) will be chosen from the regional awardees while for the National Level, the awardees will be chosen from the Island Group winners.
The criteria for selection will be as follows: Socio-economic Viability–10 per cent, Sustainable Market – 30 per cent, Financial Viability – 30 per cent, Sustainable Production/Efficient Use of Resources – 15 per cent, and Effective Organization and Management – 15 per cent.
DOLE 6 Regional Director Aida M. Estabillo called on all DOLE ACPs, employers and other partners to send in their nominees to the nearest DOLE Regional or Provincial Offices not later than December 15, this year.
