City high school named as RPs outstanding school for values education program
A public secondary high school here bested three other nominees nationwide on the search for 2009 Outstanding School-Based Values Education Program of the “Pambansang Samahan Para sa Edukasyon sa Pagpapahalaga” Inc. (PSEP).
City executive assistant for education Matty Octavio said the Iloilo City National High School (ICNHS) in Molo district is the country’s best implementer of the values education program.
Early last month, the PSEP led by its ex-officio president Sylvia T. Caberio conducted an evaluation and validation of documents that were submitted by the ICNHS relative to the contest.
The team visited and interviewed students, faculty and the community where the school holds its outreach activities.
Octavio said the result is a manifestation that the ICNHS is producing best students and can compete even with private schools.
Meantime, city schools division superintendent, Dr. Erlinda Gencaya said that the city is looking forward to maintain the standard of the school in terms of promoting values.
“We are very proud of our Values Education teachers. All our teachers are involved and our students are well-disciplined. We are placing our best teachers at the city high school,” she said.
The ICNHS bested finalists from Toledo City; Cebu and Santolan and Pasay West from the National Capital Region (NCR).
The awarding ceremony will be held during the national convention of the PSEP in Baguio City on November 25-27. (PNA)
