US DOJ-ICITAP trainings kick off in Aklan
The Competency Training Program facilitated by the United States Department of Justice (US-DOJ) under its International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) kicked off Monday in Aklan.
S/Supt. Epifanio A. Bragais, Jr, Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) director, said that the training program is in support of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Integrated Transformation Program (ITP) to strengthen the law enforcement capabilities and help improve services of the local police.
He said that the project is part of the Model Police Stations project of the PNP.
“The Boracay Special Tourist Protection Office (BSTPO) and Kalibo Police Station will continue to be part of the 10 beneficiaries of the United States International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program”, Bragais said.
The ICITAP will train policemen on Narcotics Interdiction with participants specifically assigned in Operations & as Anti Narcotics Operatives; Crime Scene Photography with First Responders & Crime Lab personnel; Technical Writing & Public Speaking with participants of any rank and designation; Human Rights for Desk Officers with participants ranked of PO3 to SPO4; Executive Development & Leadership with participants ranked of PSI to PSSUPT and Restorative Justice & Juvenile Justice with participants of any rank and designation.
The trainings are held simultaneously at the Casa Pilar Beach Resort, Brgy Manoc-Manoc, Station 2, Boracay Island for participants coming from the BSTPO and at the Tourism & Training Center, Economic Enterprise Development Department, Old Buswang, Kalibo for participants from the Kalibo Police Station.
The training will end on Dec 18.
Last year, the DOJ-ICITAP also conducted the Tier 1 Competency Training Program for personnel of the Regional Maritime Office 6 and APPO on crime scene investigation and turned over investigation kits to the participating units. (PNA)
