Preparation for 2009 WV Tourism Assembly ongoing
The preparation for the 2009 Western Visayas Tourism Assembly is ongoing with the local government unit of Capiz hosting it on Dec. 3-6, 2009.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Director Edwin Trompeta said that the assembly is a gathering of tourism stakeholders both from the government and private sector to provide them opportunity for exchanging and discussing of critical issues concerning common concerns, renewing their ties and linkages, sharing and learning from best practice experience, ideas and inspiring stories and marketing of new products.
The annual assembly will have activities such as travel fair and mart, tourism conference, parade of festivals, cultural showcase, search for Miss Western Visayas Tourism, tourism awards, travel invitational and food festival.
Trompeta said that they are now confirming the invitations already sent out to the speakers and guests.
DOT Secretary Joseph “Ace” H. Durano will be the keynote speaker in the opening program on Dec. 3 with the Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco and Roxas City Mayor Vicente Bermejo giving the welcome remarks.
The provinces of Antique, Aklan, Guimaras, Iloilo city and province, Negros Occidental will also have their own showcases during the assembly.
The assembly will be held back to back with the “Sinadya sa Halaran”, the annual festival of Capiz. (PNA)
