Better security plan for Holiday season, Dinagyang urged
City Mayor Jerry Treñas has ordered the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) to come up with a better security plan for the Holiday Season and next year’s Dinagyang festival.
He said the police must prepare a plan to ensure the safety of the people as well as their properties. The mayor is looking forward that a security plan must be in-place especially with the continuing “basag kotse” cases. The “basag kotse” cases in the city already reached 31.
Treñas has already made several instructions to the police regarding the “basag kotse” cases and yet no major arrest was effected against the perpetrators. Only small time thieves were apprehended. Worse, there were information on the alleged involvement of police in the crime which preys on valuables and easy to dispose things like laptops and netbooks.
The mayor is particular on the state of peace and order of the city comes Christmas season where shoppers abound in malls and major thoroughfares.
In last week’s meeting at the city police, a plan dubbed as Operation Magic Eye, a union of stakeholders on war against crime, terrorism and insurgency, was discussed.
The operational plan was not elaborated in the press release sent by the city police to the media.
