The Illusives
It was an awesome and fun-filled performance by The Illusive Group at SM Cinema recently. The magic show entitled “World of Wonders,” featured Rony Mariano, John Benedict dela Cruz, Ruther Urquia, Marlon Ablay, Aldino, and Alakim. What had me and my partner, and well, it seems everybody, laughing was the segment of Ruther Urquia and his puppet Titoy. What awed us was Alakim’s release of the butterflies from his hat. The kids scrambled to get some of the butterflies that landed on some of the seats and we were lucky to have one. However, butterflies are happier being free, so we had to let ours go.
The event was organized by Ideas Happen and KSM Events and Marketing Management. It was for the benefit of KKK (Mga Kaibigan ng mga Kabataang May Kanser). I’d like to share the speech of our president, Dr. Ma. Socorro Martinez, as follows:
“Magic is a language that everyone understands. Almost everyone is fascinated by magic at one time or another. It is the child in us that makes us believe in it. I believe in magic. Because I think it is magic which has helped KKK survive and continue its work in helping our recipients, despite our being just a small organization. KKK is now 21/2 years old and since then we have had 11 children as beneficiaries. Sadly, three have passed away, and presently, we are sponsoring the chemotherapy of eight children with cancer, all of whom have acute lymphocytic leukemia. I would like to thank the organizers of the show, Ideas Happen, who have been continually supporting KKK. We are grateful for the performers in this show, the sponsors. To all of you who have come to this show, thank you very much. I know that you are not just here to watch a good show, but also to show support to our kids. I hope that many more will choose to support KKK, to not only change the life of a child, but bring a little magic into their own lives. And this is how magic works. The magic is the hope that you give to our children.”
Some of KKK’s recipients were there and really had the time of their lives. Events such as this is good therapy for the kids. To adults as well.
