No fuss in positioning of village chiefs—brgy exec
Ingore Barangay Captain Ernie Porral yesterday clarified that their group merely bonded together to show full support to chief presidential counsel Raul Gonzalez Sr. and not to take over the leadership of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in La Paz currently headed by Punong Barangay Carlos Guarin.
Porral explained they decided to form a group to distinguish themselves from the punong barangays supportive of Mayor Jerry Treñas. He said it is not good when they will attend both the invitation of the Gonzalez and Trenas camps.
There are eight barangay captains in La Paz district who support Treñas and 16 other barangay captains are with the Gonzalez camp. Porral said he was already designated by the elder Gonzalez to head the La Paz district even before Treñas broke away from the Gonzalezes.
He did not comment on the reported plan to depose Guarin. There are informations that a manifesto asking for Guarin’s ouster is being circulated in the district.
Guarin is only one of the three barangay officials being targeted for throwing support to Treñas. The two other ABC presidents are Barangay Captain Bobby Divinagracia of City Proper and Barangay Captain Jonas Bellosillo in Jaro.
Divinagracia has no problem though as he will run as councilor under the Treñas group. They have Councilor Jose Espinosa III as their vice mayoral candidate. Their complete slate will be known today.
Bellosillo openly supports the candidacy of Trenas believing he is qualified to become a congressman. He is ready in case there would be action to oust him.
A former strong supporter of the Gonzalezes, Bellosillo refused to elaborate on the circumstances that led to his separation from the Gonzalez camp.
Bellosillo said that he has no problem if his detractors will successfully oust him provided due process is observed. “It is just a title. They knew how I worked for the good of the association.” he said.
