Convergence 2009 to stimulate e-Services growth in Iloilo City
Iloilo City being identified as one of the new wave cities in the country will be the next venue of the Convergence 2009 set to be held November 25 to 26, 2009.
Convergence 2009, a road show that will travel to the Next Wave Cities, aims to give the cities’ governance, general community and nature workforce, particularly the 2, 500 members of the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations awareness in enhancing the Next Wave Cities’ use of Information and Communication Technology and the numerous talent opportunities in the industry.
According to Secretary Ray Anthony Roxas Chua III of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, the event will be held at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center.
“Our participants include private sector practitioners, entrepreneurs, graduates, teaching professionals, government employees and other stakeholders,” said Secretary Chua as he emphasized that the event will feature track sessions featuring various ICT initiatives and related IT-BPO talent caravan throughout the event which can strengthen the link between local talents with ICT industries.
On November 25 opening, Secretary Chua will give update on the Position of the Philippines in ICT and Global trends of the BPO-IT industry; while Mr.Jessra S. Palmares, acting chairman of the Iloilo Federation for Information Technology will give local ICT update.
The featured track sessions are: CICT Cyberservice; CICT eGovernment development; Kapihang BPO-IT: An Industry-Academe orum; CICT Human Capital Development; and CICT Information Infrastructure Development; and BPO-IT Job Fair and Career Talks.
The identified New Wave Cities are Iloilo, Metro Cebu, Metro Laguna, Metro Cavite, Davao, Bacolod, Metro Pampanga, Bulacan East and West, Cagayan de Oro and Lipa City. (PIA6/T.Villavert)
